Meet Our Team
 Michael Barrett, CPIA | Co-Principal / Licensed Insurance Agent Mike has been part of Barrett Insurance Agency since 2007, when he returned home to help his parents run the family business following his mother's cancer diagnosis. What began as stepping in to help during a difficult time became a career dedicated to continuing the agency his parents built and serving the community he calls home. Today, Mike and his wife, Jenn, are proud to carry on that family legacy. As a Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA), Mike is committed to continuing education and helping clients better understand their insurance coverage, options, and the decisions that come with protecting what matters to them. Mike is also actively involved in the insurance industry beyond his own agency. He serves as Vermont's National Director on the board of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I”), is a board member of Trusted Choice, and is a past President of the Vermont Insurance Agents Association. These roles allow him to stay connected with the broader insurance industry while advocating for independent insurance agents and the communities they serve. Over the years, Mike has also served his hometown of Waterford on the Selectboard, Planning Commission, and Development Review Board. Community involvement has always been an important part of Mike's life. He's a founding member and President of the Northeast Kingdom Cancer Action Network (NEKCAN), serves as a Trustee of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, and is a corporator of Northeastern Vermont Regional Corporation. He also serves on the St. Johnsbury Academy Alumni Council, represents Waterford on the NEK Broadband Board, and is a member of the Union Bank Advisory Board. Outside the office, Mike enjoys spending time with Jenn, their son Ethan, and their yellow lab, Charley, who also serves as the agency's unofficial greeter. According to Jenn, Mike's favorite football team is the New England Patriots, and apparently, that's not up for debate. He's also a firm believer that both sides of a Twix deserve equal attention.

 Jennifer Barrett, CPIA | Co-Principal / Licensed Insurance Agent Jenn has been helping people navigate insurance since 2007, when she joined Mike at his parents' agency during a difficult time for the family. After the loss of Mike's mom, Jenny, and a serious accident involving his dad, Richard, Jenn and Mike were determined to carry on the family business and the reputation his parents had built in the St. Johnsbury community.
Today, Jenn is Co-Owner and Principal at Barrett Insurance Agency and holds the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation. For Jenn, insurance has always been about people, not just policies. She enjoys connecting with clients, breaking down the confusing stuff, and helping families and businesses better understand their coverage.
Outside the office, Jenn is a proud “clean freak” who actually enjoys cleaning and organizing while listening to podcasts or audiobooks. She's happiest spending time with Mike and their son Ethan, cheering on her New England Patriots (no matter the record), or planning her weekly football viewing menu.
Jenn is also actively involved with the Waterford School Association, volunteering her time to help organize school activities, enrichment opportunities, and fundraisers.
When it's time to recharge, Jenn's heart belongs to Corolla, North Carolina, in the Outer Banks—a longtime family tradition and her “happy place,” where beach days, cousins, and plenty of laughter make for the perfect escape.

 Kim Panton | Licensed Insurance Agent Kim has been part of the Barrett Insurance Agency family for over a decade, although her path into insurance wasn't exactly planned. After returning to Vermont from Missouri, she stepped in to help when her daughter, Jenn, was preparing for maternity leave. Bringing years of customer service experience with her, what started as helping out turned into a lasting career in insurance. As a licensed insurance agent and Customer Service Representative (CSR), Kim enjoys working with clients and being part of a close-knit team where family and coworkers often feel like one and the same. Outside the office, Kim is a self-proclaimed homebody who enjoys spending time with family and friends, tackling the occasional craft project, and relaxing with a classic Hershey's milk chocolate bar. She's also a loyal New England Patriots fan and enjoys watching the PGA Tour. Like Jenn, Kim has a special place in her heart for Corolla, North Carolina, in the Outer Banks, where annual family vacations have become a cherished tradition. And while she doesn't have any pets of her own, she's perfectly happy sharing the office with Charley, the agency's four-legged team member.

Anita Mosher | Licensed Insurance Agent
With 20 years of insurance experience, including ten years at Barrett Insurance Agency, Anita brings a wealth of knowledge and a friendly, personal approach to helping clients with their insurance needs.
Anita's journey into insurance began while she was working full-time as a waitress and raising three young children. Looking for a career that would give her more time with her family, particularly nights and weekends, she decided to make a change. That decision led to a rewarding career in insurance, and she hasn't looked back!
As a licensed insurance agent and Customer Service Representative (CSR), Anita enjoys getting to know clients and helping them navigate their insurance needs. One of her favorite things about working at Barrett Insurance Agency is the close-knit atmosphere and the friendships she's developed with her coworkers.
Outside the office, Anita enjoys spending time with family, reading, quilting, crafting, baking, and taking walks outdoors. She especially loves family vacations with her children and parents, making memories together along the way.
One of her favorite places to visit is The Basin in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire, where she enjoys the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings.

Johanna Simonds | Licensed Insurance Agent
Johanna joined Barrett Insurance Agency in February 2021 as a Customer Service Representative (CSR), bringing a fresh perspective and a willingness to learn an entirely new industry. What started as a new career opportunity quickly became something she truly enjoys, and in August 2024, she earned her Property & Casualty insurance license.
A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor's degree, Johanna enjoys continuing to expand her insurance knowledge and helping clients better understand their coverage. She especially appreciates the teamwork and close-knit atmosphere at Barrett Insurance Agency, where coworkers support one another and work together to help their clients.
Johanna takes pride in building relationships with clients and being someone they can count on when questions arise. She enjoys the problem-solving side of insurance and appreciates that there's always something new to learn. For her, it's about taking the time to listen, understanding what someone needs, and helping them find their way through the sometimes confusing world of insurance.
Outside the office, Johanna loves spending time with her husband, their two teenage children, and their two dogs. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking and kayaking whenever she gets the chance. When she's not exploring the outdoors, you'll likely find her crocheting, cooking, or working in her garden.

Karianne Scott, AAI | Licensed Insurance Agent
With 16 years of experience in the insurance industry, Kari brings a combination of knowledge, creativity, and attention to detail to Barrett Insurance Agency. She holds the Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designation, reflecting her commitment to professional education and a deeper understanding of insurance coverage and risk management.
Whether helping businesses or individuals navigate the sometimes-complicated world of insurance, Kari enjoys finding solutions, working through challenges, and bringing a little humor to the process. She believes that paying attention to the details, asking the right questions, and keeping things approachable can make all the difference.
With deep roots in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, Kari also has a strong commitment to her community. She has served more than five years on her local school board, helping support education and the families in her community.
Outside the office, Kari enjoys snorkeling, skiing, and planning the next family adventure. More often than not, though, she's channeling her inner Uber driver, shuttling the kids from one activity to another, complete with snacks, negotiations, and a soundtrack only they appreciate.
And if you're ever looking for a lively debate, just ask Kari whether pineapple belongs on pizza. She probably has a few thoughts on the subject!

Kimberly McBey | Customer Service Representative
Kimberly joined Barrett Insurance Agency in March 2025 as a Customer Service Representative (CSR). A proud Northeast Kingdom native, she graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 2006 and earned her bachelor's degree from Lyndon State College in 2010, all while working full-time and helping build her forever home with her now-husband, Jeramie.
With a background in the medical field, Kimberly brings a combination of compassion, organization, and attention to detail to her role. She genuinely enjoys working with people, listening to their concerns, and helping them find answers. Often the first face you'll see when visiting our office, Kimberly enjoys making people feel welcome and helping wherever she can.
Outside the office, Kimberly is happiest spending time with her family. She and Jeramie are raising their three children in Waterford, where family and community remain an important part of their lives.
And as the 16th cousin in the Barrett family tree, affectionately known as “Mike's baby cousin,” Kimberly fits right into the family-owned atmosphere at Barrett Insurance Agency. Apparently, around here, even the distant cousins end up working together!
